Philatelists interested in a particular subject are very exciting and exceptional people. They collect specific postage stamps, covers, post cards, postmarks and other types of philatelic goods. A lot of people keep dogs as beloved pets, and a lot of philatelists choose them for their collections. Postage items with images of different breeds of dogs are issued in a great number of countries. For example, Slovenia issued The Istrian Smooth-coated Hound souvenir sheet on September 23, 2005: Souvenir sheet contains a dog stamp. The booklet is composed of six self-adhesive stamps. Each stamp is a dog stamp. October 5, 2010, St. Vincent /Mayreau/ issued souvenir sheet called Dogs from around the World. It compares height of two dog breeds – Lap dog and Mastiff: Usually the Year of the Dog in the Chinese calendar encourages postal administrations on issuing additional philatelic items showing dogs. Thus many countries issued dog stamps in 2006 (the Year of the Dog). Canada issued unusual Year of the Dog souvenir sheet on January 6, 2006: Souvenir sheet is designed in Chinese style and contains a dog stamp with the image of Shar-pei – a dog breed which came from China. New Year Stamps of 2006 (Dog) souvenir sheet was issued on January 1, 2006, in North Korea: Some postage materials are devoted to deg exhibitions or shows. For example, February 7, 2011, Monaco issued a dog stamp associated with 2011 International Dog Show: Some collectors prefer stamps with the images of specific breed of dogs, for example, hounds. FDC called Hunting Dogs was issued on November 10, 2010, by the Republic of Belarus: The cover contains image of the dog and each stamp is a dog stamp as well. First Day Cover (FDC) is a quite interesting philatelic item as such. For example, Dogs FDC was issued on June 15, 2007, by Ukraine: This FDC will be a perfect catch for any collection. There is an image of dogs on the cover; each stamp is a dog stamp, while postmark is foot-shaped. Collecting of stamps and other postage items on a particular subject requires a lot of time and energy. We believe we will be very helpful in such difficult yet interesting work. |
